May just want to bump it with the starter to turn it 180?. Sometimes you can turn the motor with just turning the alternator if the belt is tight enough and the plugs are out.

Not exactly sure what Levinz11 is talking about since the alignment tool has no splines on it.

Water pump on the front of the engine ????

You could use compressed air and pick a cylinder (or two) that is on the down stroke . . . of course, you would have to take a spark plug or 2 out.

pull the plugs
then you should be able to grab the belts and manually turn it.

I would pull the front water pump and put a socket on the crank bolt.

Pulling the water pump sounds like way more work than needs to be done.

Explain why you want to turn it over? Just wondering?
Itin't it gonna read the same in all positions?
Don said it. Key off and bump it over.

It's how you check a coupler to see if it's true.
If you can align the engine, then turn the engine 1/2 turn and the alignment is out, then the coupler is defective.
It especially good to do the 0-90-180-270 test on new couplers. I set the engine in, tighten all the motor mounts and then check the alignment BEFORE I finish hooking up the rest of the engine.
Have run into about half a dozen bad couplers over the years.

you could also use a strap wrench around the harmonic balancer with the plugs out

I would be very careful doing that. Very easy to damage if the engine is tough to turn.

There is a rubber hub between the outside ring and the center housing. I ruined one myself trying this once.
