Personnel opinion but I don't like carb plate lifts, but that's just me

Put hooks on the exhaust sides or front and rear of heads

I have the exhaust installed on motor and use 1 inch web straps around both of then and attached in the center above

Just put a 5.7 with aluminum manifold in this spring using carb plate mount. Had all the front accessories on but no exhaust manifolds. Did a 4.3 a couple years ago but it had cast iron intake. Works just fine. Just make sure all the bolts are installed and screwed in as far as possible without bottoming out. use washers as spacers above the plate if it is loose.

The brackets on mine go into the front of one cylinder head and back of the other put a Chain across them and bolt them into heads

Carb plate is plenty strong on an aluminum intake. I had a friend use to pull his 455 Buck engine and trans out with one, much heavier engine than a SBC

Ayuh,.... In that case, the intake isn't carrying any weight,....

The bolts go into the heads, just like the cast manifold,....

It's just an aluminum sandwich insteada a cast iron sandwich,....
'n aluminum has plenty of compressive strength,....

The carb plates, put 100% of the weight on the manifold,....

If you use a Carb Plate to lift the engine you should be fine, just use bolts long enough to bottom in the intake, using washers under the bolts heads if need be. Also don't subject the Motor to sudden Stops when lowering it.
