On my Larson SEI 174 boat one of the snaps(the stud part) came loose and vibrated itself in the wind over the course of last summer and now the threads are stripped in the hole where it was screwed in. What's the best way to fix this?

I was thinking of filling it with epoxy and screwing in the snap while wet and letting it dry that way but then maybe letting it dry first and screwing the snap in after. Ideas?

yes...

if you put it in while the epoxy is wet and let it dry, that's fine...

if you wait for the epoxy to cure then screw it in, be sure to drill a slightly smaller pilot hole for the snap to screw in to prevent cracking...

Its in the How to's and other Great Info thread ..

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=470228

You may not need to bother with the epoxy and other fillers if you read the thread.

There are bigger snap screws.. if there is a way to through bolt snap then do that..

Read the thread to help you out.

^ +1

the larger screws are #10 snaps to go in the hole where the #8 was.

Either way is fine . . . I just stick the thing in with the wet epoxy and let it cure around the threads. A thicker epoxy, like the JB Weld stuff seems to work fine for a repair like this.
