So, I was lucky enough to have it fail. Brand new line, brand new anchor. Went to pull it up and it was gone.

Here is a pic of the line. Nothing cut, or torn. Perfectly "fine".

Here is what it should look like

I just bought a brand new richter anchor and i DONT want to lose it. $$$$

What can I do to better my chances? Should I cut just above the untwisted lines, then dip it into an epoxy to hold the end. Put a knot in it, then somehow Tie it on the anchor? I like to use a D-Ring clip to attach to the anchor.

A proper eye splice should never do that. Weird.

The fix it to make a new eye splice, correctly. They are easy to make. Google "eye splice 3 strand nylon" and you will find a huge amount of helpful info.

I usually tie a boat winch type hook on rope. that way I can use rope for other things . I burn end of rope then wet my fingers and twist it when it is still hot. also make sure you use a good knot and pull good and tight

if you have a smart phone look for an app called what knot ... gives you step by step instructions and illustrations... also explains which knot to use

if it came with the splice, the splice was defective and since it failed on your first use, take it back, and get a different brand.

If it wasn't spliced, your knot failed and then the line came unravelled.

Maybe you can recover the anchor?

I din't know what you mean by "D ring clip" but you should not use a clip on an anchor. You want a shackle.

Also, if you tie a knot for your anchor, after it's tied, take a small piece of copper or stailess wire and wrap the tag end against the line--or put a couple of cable ties on it.

I would suggest you whip all of those connections and do not trust even the factory ones ;)

Re: How to fix anchor rope

By the looks of the first two pictures I'd say that it is a very soft laid nylon line and the eye splice just didn't have enough 'tucks' in it for being such a soft slippery line, I'm having a hard time counting more than 3 - 4 in the picture. If I put that splice in I would have gone with at least 6 - 7 tucks, and possibly some whipping.
An eye splice is the best to use, but it does have to be done properly. This one was not.
(You can get away with as little as 3 - 4 tucks in something like a good quality manila.)
