hey i took my boat out today and i learned the hard way that i have a hole in the bottom of it... anyone know what i should do to fix this. Its not a hole but a big crack and on the bottom of the boat it looks like someone who had it befor me hit some rocks or something because on the very bottom there is parts of the fiber glass missing and wood being exposed. could i just fiber glass over all that would that fix it or is there something else that i need to do. When i drained my boat it looked like water was leaking through the wood on the bottom .
Thanks in advance,
John

If it has foam, that is likely saturated. Post some pix that would help and what type of boat is it? Fibreglass or wood?

Have a great day,

Rob.

Hole after

Hole afterwards from the inside, I cut out a piece of the deck like a pumpkin lid so I could access the hole

it is a glass boat and yes its the wood that is on the very bottom. it is a tri hull the the middle is the one that has probably hit a rock or something sharp to do that. im really working on getting pics up in here.

Re: how to fix a hole in the hull?

ok everyone here is the deal. I just lifted my boat off of the trailer yesterday and watched that video. (Very good info fuzzeywiggler) I sanded the problem areas down and cut out the hole that was in the bow. I proceded to fiber glass it all up. When said and done. It cost about $50.00 and now the whold skeg is re fiberglassed and its ready to roll. I will be taking it out tonight at about seven for a couple hours and see how much water i bring on now. The new skeg and hole are more stronger than the original fiberglass that is there. My brother in law was telling me about a skeg guard? anyone heard of these and are they worth the $150.00?
thanks a ton again.
John

oh yah my brother and girl friend helped me with the fiber glassing. He works on cars so i lucked out there. It wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. :)
