Measure from the center line of the prop to the top of the mounting bracket.

It's either 20" or 25".

Jon, Don't you really want to measure the height of your boat's transom? A 20" transom is standard for a 20" motor shaft (longshaft), a 25" transom is standard for a 25" motor (X-Long shaft).

The lower units are interchangable, such that if you need a longshaft, you can put a 20" lower on a motor that had a 25" lower.
