how to determine the year 175 ocean pro

The model or serial number gives the year. In your model number, that B is a strange character. Normally it is an "E" for electric starting. So a J175EXETR would be a 1993 25" shaft motor.

The Crowleymarine site did not find your serial number either.

With your help something shows up using a N in place of the B too like you found using an E though no other letter suggests a engine model that's close like this.

N is counter rotation. That should be easy to see if correct. Look for a left handed prop.

could only get a clear pic of one engines ,yes one is CR.

A 1993 motor will have carbs, I would think. The e-TEC is a different animal.
