how to connect my ohm meter

when connecting an ohm and voltage meter to test my stator,trigger,and switch box am i testing the wiresnor the parts, ive read the cdi manual over and over but cant figure out how to test these parts, i even watched it done on youtube but the guy didnt show where i hook the frikin meter to, it also says to unhook these things to see if i get spark and i dont understand unhook them or bypass by touching the wires together urrggg!!!! I wish i had a real manual like a haynes

Sorry not computer literate enough for that kinda stuff but trust me you cant see nothing and he had a diff engine as well, i just wanna know am i testing these parts themselves or the wires that go to them, testing the ohms means the power is flowing threw right? Making sure the wire isnt broken and testing the voltage is to make sure the part itself is working right? Well my question is do i unhook the wires to do these tests or not

Yes to check ohms disconnect wires. You have to isolate the part you want to ohm. and yes you are checking the part as a whole .
