Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get mold & water spots out of carpet thats on the ceiling of our boat? A large area of the boat has carpet on the ceiling & it all needs to be cleaned. We tried commercial carpet cleaner by hand but its not removing the stained area. How about a steam cleaner or carpet cleaner?

Re: how to clean carpet on ceiling

I'm just about to do the same thing. I talked to my brother-in-law, who is a car detailer. He told me an extractor should do the trick, not sure about a steam cleaner. I think you need to actually extract the stains with a solution.

I would suggest resealing all of your through deck/hull items first to avoid the same problem all over again. I'm in the process of doing that as well. A pain, but well worth it in the long run.

Re: how to clean carpet on ceiling

Hi carmal,

I had to do the ceiling on my wellcraft this fall. I tried the carpet cleaner without much luck, still had staining. I ended up using a 30-40% peroxide solution spayed on and blotted off and it removed 90% of the stains. Probably would have good to use the carpet cleaner after. Just be careful to cover up eyes and skin when spraying the peroxide solution at that concentration.

Regards,
