Re: How Often Does Your Boat Go Out?

Took the big one out today. I have a Drs appointment at the VA on Friday. Since I store the boat about 1/2 mile away from the VA, I'll have to go burn some more gas on Friday.

Except for for my skiff, it usualy goes out in the winter for a giging trip one a month or so! But I live in central fl, much different (I mean Better) than those of u that live in the SNOW! :D

Re: How Often Does Your Boat Go Out?

I've only managed to get out 4 or 5 times all summer. (Here comes the boo hoo...)

I work full time, wife works full time, kids are 1 and 3, and my wife is in grad school with multiple classes this summer.

in a few more years the wife will finish grad school, children will be more manageable and hopefully my wife gets a job with no weekends (she works pretty much every weekend now). We plan on making up for the sacrifices we are making now to get ahead. If we dock the boat we might just use it every day.

Short season here as it is and the wife likes the Goldwing better than the boat.Took a while to get her out in the new to me boat, but now that she's been in it she does like it so maybe more next year.Got to admit though that the Wing is a lot cheaper to run for the day.The old 150 Tower of Power likes her fuel.I'm hoping the V6 I picked up is a bit better on fuel.

Re: How Often Does Your Boat Go Out?

I get out less and less each year, which is funny cause the boat started 3 years ago as a work in progress, it's gotten better and better running but now i spend less and less time. Work gets in the way :( I keep it at a buddies place about 20 minutes from our town house, he lives 2 10ths of a mile from a boat launch so that was great till they closed the launch this year, now I have to trailer it to the other end of the lake to launch, pay, park, etc etc. I am seriously thinking of a slip for next year maybe that will make me use it more. Honestly tinkering with it is the most fun for me. I do things like the pics below, the blue is the original cover, it was rotting and leaning on the engine so I rebuilt, Now it tilts up and back for the top and forward and out for the bottom. I love to tinker with it probably more than going out in it. I can only imagine what I could do with it if I had a garage and alot more money. So after all that every other week.

Re: How Often Does Your Boat Go Out?

Well after starting to get it ready first weekend in April, it turned out to be a complete Rebuild on the floor, stringers, electronics, bellows etc rebuild that took 8 weeks to complete I finally got the boat to the water in June. Paid for a slip for the summer and only went for probably 8 rides and one overnighter. I did spend quite a few nights sleeping in it at my friends dock on an island in Huron where we spent weekends working on the camp. Left the boat at that camp for probably a month and the problem with that was it's on an island so needed a boat ride to get to mine. Bigger problem is no weekdays due to a 130km ride EACH way to get to her. Next year I'm not paying the slip fees and keep it at my friends camp and have my own 12' aluminum to get to the camp when needed. Boat has been sitting in the driveway now for over 4 weeks due to my second job has started for the winter and being in northern Ontario the season is finished (well pretty close anyway)
Anyways the answer to the question is probably the same as everyone else's "NOT ENOUGH!!!!"

Re: How Often Does Your Boat Go Out?

Well, the funny (actually ridiculous) thing is......wife has been unemployed since July and I'm still unemployed AND we have only taken the boat out twice since July and here it is the 23rd of Sept! I told her that it is so odd that NOW we have more time to take it out, we just don't do it! She said, "that's not odd, that's just plain ridiculous!" We look for jobs, but not all day during the week and especially Thurs/Fri when nothing really goes on in the "job search" situation. Last time we were on the St. John's River, there was a lot of foam in spots of it. We also seen BIG chucks of foam sliding down the current next to docking area at Jax Landing downtown area. So, here we have the extra time now and don't even use that! However, this Saturday AM we want to go to Vilano Ramp in St Augustine and get her out on the Intercoastal for the first time. Been there enough times now (w/o the boat) that we think it's time to get her in down there. We've been told that once we go there, we won't go back on the St. John's that much anymore.......even though that river is much, much closer to us (7 miles compared to about 45 to Vilano). We'll see how things go.
