Perhaps it is just because I bought a new boat this year and I want to use the he!! out of it but I feel like I did not get enough time on the boat.

2 nights St Patrics Day weekend in Wilmington
2 Nights Bouford, NC
3 nights Chesapeake Bay
2 nights wilmington (random last moment trip)
2 nights Oak Island, NC
1 night lake
1 night lake
1 night lake
12 day trips to the lake.

Why do I feel like I am not using the boat enough. I even have an upcoming 4 night trip the week after next. Does anyone out there use their boat more/less?

I think you got a lot of use out of your boat this year.
But I'm a Canadian with a 3 month boating season........:(

That's a ton of use. I've never been on a boat that much in a season..... Between work, weather, and life, I would have to be on it every other spare moment.... But I'm practically a Canadian too with a short season.....

You got a ton of time on that boat this year compared to us, add the nights and days and that's 32 by my count.

Combined with the weird weather that's not too bad. I have to believe in NC your season might extend into late November.

32 days from St. patrick's to now--pretty good even for a small boat.

large boats don't get used as much (not counting sitting on them at the pier) and trailered large boats even less, just b/c the logistics are more complicated. A small boat in the water at or close to home probably gets used the most.

It's my impression/opinion that few people use their boats as much as they'd like or as much as they thought they would, barring retirees, loafing teens or avid sportsmen. They also don't end up taking as many people as they thought, which is why i often caution against stretching to get a boat that holds 8-10.

It's never enough!!

I'd be thrilled with usage like you've had. This year was particularly bad for our boating schedule unfortunately. Hopefully next year brings a new boat & more usage.

Yeah, I don't even get on the water more than 2 weekends a month from May to October with our 20' runabout, so even 20-25 days would be pushing it in a boating season. I'd say you did well.

All of you just need to retire like me. At the boat at least 3x a week

OP - I'm an easy drive from the lake, with a boat I can get on and off the trailer fast enough that it's worth it to head out for an hour and a half ride. I know I don't have 32 rides in this year ... and I'm no where near Canadian seasonally! You're doing pretty well.

I'm also retired, but only used boat 5 times this season!! Partly due to engine problems, but mostly just "too" something - too busy; hot; cold; wet; windy and lastly too expensive. $25 gas every hour spent wandering around the lake takes some of the enthusiasm away :(

I was wanting to be on it more weekends than not. As it turns out it seams to be every other weekend. Sometimes more some times not.

We stayed overnight on ours 16 or 17 times and had 5 or so day trips - The month of July was shot as we had a pre-planned camping trip and a couple graduation parties but that is about average for us. I will have at least one more day trip as I need to get pumped out, The super sucker was broke down the last time we were up there.

It's your new found love!!!! And since its so new to you, you feel as if you can't stop much like a addiction. Don't worry I have the same problem that is if you call it a problem lol.

10 more years of military life before I buy my first live aboard boat then I can safely say I will be at my boat 24/7!

^Well done agallant80, that is some quality time onboard, especially the overnights. We had to focus to get roughly 30 days (could be long day or sunset cruise) of use out of our wet slip and a week vacation on Lake Winnipesaukee.
