How much exhust should come out of the prop on Merc 170

While running my engine(85 Merc 170) in the driveway with muffs on lower unit I noticed that there was hardly any exhaust coming out of the center of the prop. Most of the water and exhaust was coming out of the vent holes in the transom. Engine was only on idle. I thought the venting feature was to compensate for water presure when boat is in the water at idle.

Ayuh,... When ya sign in, yer name should be at the Top, right of center on every page...

Well that is simple enough, thanks for the input. I will go straight to that instead of looking through all the posts to find my own. By the time I get my motor problem solved I should be well versed and understand how to use this forum.
