How many poles is my tachometer

How would I determine if my tachometer is for a 20 pole? It came with the boat it is an aqua meter analog type it has a yellow and gray wire

If it isn't labeled, or have a selector switch on the back, there is no way of telling.<br /><br />If you hook it up and try it, it will either read correctly, or be way off, by 40-60%.<br /><br />Adios, I'm off to the lake for 3 days.
