Looks like several of the crappie boat rigs around here. You may not use them all the time. Say your only fishing from one side of the boat the the other holders are empty.

Dang straight lines tangle!!!... and anyone that says they don't get tangles is either just movin' his mouth or isn't catchin' anything but little ol' baby fish!

The skill of not getting the lines tangled up is what separates the men from the boys. :D

We normally run 14 lines with 28 baits behind the boat that run anywhere from $25-$35 each. With almost $1,000 worth of tackle behind the boat, tangles are not an option.

Last November, we fished 14 rods with a crew of 2. We caught 27 Stripers over #30, with 15 of them topping #40 before noon. Not exactly "little ol' baby fish". At one time we had 10 fish on at one time. Put 8 of those 10 in the boat without a single tangle.

You're more than welcome to come up late November thru Mid-January and I'll gladly demonstrate the art of precision trolling, "Chesapeake Style"

1000.00 rod and reel set up for crappie? please tell me that is a joke, most of us use ultralight tackle for those ferocious little fish. i use bigger bait when i go musky fishin 15" suckers go big or go home. those setups cost me around 200 bucks a piece and have lasted years.

Never said I was talking about fishing for Crappie.. My G-Loomis/Diawa Steelhead and Salmon combos run about a grand a piece. My Bass rigs run around that also. My Flyrods and Reels are Sage.. I prefer the Z-Axis. Go try them, you'll find out in a hurry why I use them. I fished most of my life with stuff from Wallyworld and did just fine. Now that I have enough to buy the best, I do.

Re: How many pole holder do you need?

I?m the owner of a custom rod building shop and a tackle aficionado myself. Interested in specifics of your equiptment

Well, two of my rods are Sage Z-Axis 9-6's with Sage 2560 reels. I troll for Eagle Lake trout with them and I also use them for what they were intended (fly fishing). These are 4 piece rods. I can't remember the numbers on my Loomis rods or the model numbers on my Diawa reels except for the Steez's that I have on my Loomis crank bait rods. I think they ran about 450.00 each. If you want to know my favorite it's actually a less expensive Lamiglass North Western that I've had for over 10 years. I call it "Lucky" because I catch more fish on it than any other rod I have. I have fun with my Loomis back bouncer, t's always fun to put a nice big Steelie on it and watch that thing twist and bend like a pretzel. That's a pretty amazing rod, it seems like you can feel every piece of river gravel as the weight drags over it yet the backbone is stiff enough to set a hook in that tough mouth that the North West Steelies are known for. I've also got an array of Mooching rigs for Salmon and I usually run Penn reels on them. They're not the most expensive but if you take care of them they seem to last forever.

HA, isn't that the truth!

My first (cheap) $40 Penn trolling rod catches more stripers than my $150+ Calstar. I don't know why, but it does. Port, starboard, shore side, channel side, close, far back,,, it doesn't matter. The ratings and actions are almost exactly the same, but that cheap Penn usually gets hit over the Calstar.

Go figure
