How many hours would it take for a marine mechanic to rebuild a merc 2 BBL carb?

2 to 3 hours depending on why its in need of a rebuild and how hard the fuel filters are to get to and has a monkey beat me to the banana tree.

My next question is how hard is it to replace the accelerator pump? I'm pretty sure I need to replace it. From a stand still if I hammer the throttle down it has a hesitation and will backfire. If I gradually get on the gas it runs great.

could be the pump, could be the check ball assy, could be an incorrect float level setting, only opening it up for inspection will tell.
