Floating docks are not floating anymore at our lake. Boating season came to a grinding halt here.

Yeah we went about 5 or 6 years dealing with that drought. This year, however, we've gotten all the weather from the other lower 47. I can't recall a weekend that wasn't cloudy and somewhere nearby, at least, got some rain.

You guys have got to get out your metal detectors! Could probably pay for it in one outing. Motors, jewelry, lures, coins, keys, treasure unnamed.

We've come back up considerably. At the beginning of the year the impounds were all down 6 to 10 feet each. Most of them are back up to normal now. We'd been pretty dry most of the summer and got a little push at the end coming into fall.

Sorry to hear all the low level reports. I guess I am fortunate,my 6000 acre lake never vareis more than a foot unless we get a tropical storm. They will drop the lake in anticipation of heavy rain but it quickly recovers. Every few years they drop it 6-10 feet to inspect the dam gates.

I'm lucky- maybe. The lake went up a whopping 1/10 of an foot after 3/4" of overnight rain. So it's still down about 8 feet. You have to pay real close attention to the white poles and water color changes. If it was down a hundred feet the dam broke and I could gig stripers & hybrids.

Not much. Lake minnetonka is down less than a foot and the lake at my parents place is at the same level as always. Benefits of lakes with outgoing water controls.

Ours has the outgoing water control but they are working on the dam right now and had to pretty much drain it.

Ya you wouldn't guess that we had lots of Rain this Summer by the look of Hartwell and Thurmond. Really takes Tropical Storm flooding rains to keep up with the releases from the Dams. What a waste of our most precious natural recourse. Lots of damaged boats this Summer for sure

Simcoe is down about two feet right now. They open the Wasdell Falls dam at the beginning of Aug to bring water levels down in anticipation of the spring thaw. We have been petitioning Parks Canada and Ministry of Natural Resources to postpone the the summer drain until the fall. http://www.petitiononline.com/drainage/petition.html
