How long of a boat bow to get?

My boat has a beam width of 68" and is 14 feet long. How long of a boat bow do I need to have a good enough arch to repel rain and snow? Are the fiber glass ones a lot better than wood? Thanks!

I don't have any personal experience with them, but from pictures I've seen I don't think they would shed snow very well - too flat at the apex of the bow:(
You can't beat a simple wooden frame to form an A shape. The steeper the pitch the better!

What kind of cover do you have? Does the bow have a mounting already or are you making something? I've seen some stuff done with PVC that makes a nice "tent" for the cover.

I like the PVC tenting personally......the boat bows just don't tent the cover enough for me. If I kept the boat outside in the winter, I would build a frame and throw a tarp over everything so it doesn't touch the cover, but I keep it in a barn. This does well with rain though for sure....

Mine are about 8' long, 96".
Then you adjust them to the length you need.

Fine for trailering a smaller boat, like my 14' that is 64" wide.
Doesn't work for my larger boat, which is 84" wide.

Don't think it is of any use for winter storage.

Since we don't use our garbage cans anymore, I put three of them in the boat and pull the cover over them.
