I have a 30 Hp mariner Born in 1983. I have not seen any with problems. Does anybody have any problems with these ? I see alot of other engines on this sight but no 30 Hp. Give me info please on what to watch out for.
That is a very good engine!! It was imported by Brunswick/Mercury and produced by Yamaha. I worked at Jimmy Holts Sports Center in the mid 80's and we was the nations top seller of Mariner outboards 3 years running. The 30 & 40hp's was the top seller to duck hunters and crappie fishermen. One salesman's deal was,if it didnt start by 4th pull he would give you your money back !! I only know of 1 he had to eat.
The 25 was a Brunswick/Mercury the 28 was a Yammy. I know of a fellow that trout fishes that has the 2hp and I'll bet that it has 1500+hours running time. I service it and the swivel bracket is worn out and flops from side to side 1/2 inch ,has had 10+ impellers, NO carb service ever and will still start on half a pull of the rope.
