Big screen TV is thrown out because they were not engineered to be repaired.----So throw out a 40" one and get a new 60" one for less than $1000.-------Who is going to repair these electronic gadgets on 4 wheels.

Same, I have a 2007 Jeep with 117,000 on it and a 1998 Jeep with 180,000 on it, I only drive 3-4K a year now. Semi retired.
While I'd like a newer vehicle I don't "need" one yet.
I used to have a 97 GC with the 318 that I traded for the 2008 (in 2013) when I felt I needed something newer. It had just over 200,000 but ran like a champ. I loved that 97 and wish I had it back. The 97 had incredibly comfortable seats and the ones in the 2008 are brutal. I had 2 brothers and a sister who rode in the passenger seat ONCE EACH and all 3 said never again.

I do like the original ZJ series (1993-1998), they always reminded me of old school American cars that I grew up with but now they are really getting old, hard to find a good one, and some parts you really have to search for. Funny thing about the seats, I thought the seats in the 07 were too hard at first but after I got used to them, greatly preferred them to the 98 for long trips, better support and heated seats! I guess seat comfort is really individual...

The Maverick can only tow 4,000 pounds. The Hyundai Santa Cruz can tow 5,000 pounds.

My bad, too many numbers shuffling thru my head.

Still trying to figure out if a 2.0L turbo is a good thing.
Or if a framed truck is what I need.
Sucks that the smallest framed truck gets worse gas milage than my old 1996 s10.

And when it comes to towing you never want to be at the vehicle's limit. Our boat is about 5,000 on the trailer and that was the limit for our '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 six and it felt like it, struggled on hills, etc. The '07 Grand Cherokee 5.7 is rated for a max of 7200 lbs and it hardly feels the boat back there. For its size, one of the best tow vehicles I've used. The other I really liked is my brother's ' 16 Range Rover Sport, with the supercharged V8. That thing is a beast, same thing with tow capacity. Here I'm delivering his new boat with the '07. Chapparal SSI 21', towed it like its not there, about the same size as my '88 Four Winns.

My boat is #5,500 on trailer. Pulling with a 3.5 six.... doesn't know it's back there while getting 12.5 mpg. Rated to tow #11,700....
Goes to show how far things have come in the past 15 years.

I recall towing my boat with a 1967 Cadillac with 429 Cubic inch engine.------Gas consumption doubled.-----Boat and trailer were roughly 5500 / 6000 LBS.-----So in an electric vehicle your range would be cut in half.-----And not sure if EV charging stations are set-up for trucks with a 30' long trailer.----The ones locally sure are not.

lithium and cobalt mines are running out of lithium and cobalt and will be leading to shortages soon. we still do not have a good global recycling program for heavy metal batteries other than lead-acid

15 years from now, I may be distilling fuel from grains and consuming the excess.

Yah, plenty of numbers out there and more coming! 🤪

Here's the thread for my Santa Cruz. I guess I should update it, it's been awhile. 😏

Lucky you! I still think they're miserable and vastly prefer the ZJ seats but what is done, is done.

How much of a trucks tow capacity is being able to move the load versus being able to stop the load? For example my 2010 chevy 2500hd. I think its rated at 16k or there abouts. Reg cab long box tow and plow packages extra duty axles front and the big rear diff.

I user it to give a boost to a tandem semi log truck stuck in the mud. It was enough help to get it moving. I certainly couldn't have stopped it though.

Take a look at EV charging stations.----IT appears you have to back up to most them.-----How would you do this with a boat or large trailer behind your truck !!
