Interesting Article; It infers that in my case 95% of my towing could be done with an EV truck. 84 thousand for the EV is only a couple of thou more than a new 2500 diesel would be equipped the same as my 2002.

74,090 +6% Pennsylvania Sales Tac 4,445 = 78,535 Add dealer prep, title and transfer fees, etc and it is bumping 80,000 for a 2022. I can't afford it or an 84g electric. Mine only has 179,000 on it and at 83 years old I figure it will outlast me.

How do you keep the body from rusting on a vehicle that old? The last truck I bought was a 2015 F150 simply because its aluminum and won't rust. Everything I've ever had before that rusted out long before the engine gave out.

How do you keep the body from rusting on a vehicle that old? The last truck I bought was a 2015 F150 simply because its aluminum and won't rust. Everything I've ever had before that rusted out long before the engine gave out.

Replaced the rocker panels an and cab corners about 6 years ago. It's a race now to see which rusts out first, me or the truck.

I think the demand for trucks has driven the prices so high. When I was searching for a truck to tow my boat (back in Oct-Nov of last year), I briefly took a look at new truck prices. $60K seemed to be the price of entry for anything decent with the tow rating I needed, and the supply was scarce.

$84K for an electric truck does seem like crazy money . . . what would be the tow rating on those?

But seeing the price of trucks so high, I understand why I see photos of a shiney new, totally tricked out F-250 towing an 18 foot bowrider. . . . not much money left to buy the boat

Depends on where you live.

Locally it’s almost unheard of although they switched over to using brine on the roads a couple of years back. Have to wait and see

Head over to the coast and everything rusts. Seen rotors rust over night. Ate the rockers and chassis of my 2001 Tahoe big time.

Just looked it up . . . although not specifically found on the Ford website . . .

Tow rating of the F-150 Lightning 7,700 lbs . . . 10,000 lbs with extended battery. BTW - the extended battery adds about $18K to the price of the XLT trim version.

I think the most I've paid for a car (or truck) is about $38K, which was the Explorer back in 2017. The prices of vehicles today are scary

179,000? Heck, that's just getting broke in good! I'm 76 and my 2008 Jeep GC only has 107,000. I'll never outlive that bad boy. I'm at the point where I only drive 3 or 4 thou a year.

Same, I have a 2007 Jeep with 117,000 on it and a 1998 Jeep with 180,000 on it, I only drive 3-4K a year now. Semi retired.
While I'd like a newer vehicle I don't "need" one yet.

While the bodies don't rust like they did 20 years ago, even here in WI where our roads are actually repaved with salt.

But all components bottom side will rust and corrode like an old witch's chastity belt. Brake fittings, coolant lines, suspension mounts, all seem to crumble away.

Now, if your wife isn't driving when the trans cooler line splits open, you may be able to save the transmission. But, my wife was driving both the Explorer, and the Trailblazer.

The first thing that comes to mind is the number of cordless tools I threw away. I threw them away because the high cost of the replacement batteries!

They say that the battery will last 10 to 12 years.----But will they ?---Any guarantees on that ?----I can't believe these EV upstarts are selling / taking orders when they have never sold just 1 car.----Scams in the making perhaps.
