I have a lower (omc) and it has no numbers on it. How can you tell what size, and or year this is? It has the shift cables on it yet.

the absence of a rectangular zinc anode behind the 6 idle relief holes says it is a 1978-1981 hydromechanical shift lower. If it has a 13 spline propshaft, it is a 400 series. If it has 15 spline propshaft, it is an 800 series.

How are you able to tell the difference with an OMC Cobra Drive unit? Correct me if I am wrong but OMC Cobra's are not Electric Shift Correct?

it looks nothing like a Cobra

correct, but the drive pictured is not electric either.
Electric shifting outdrive production ended in 1977, almost a decade before Cobras were introduced
