Dang, I thought the point was to identify politician buffoons [insert picture of Ralph Nagin].

Didn't anybody recognize Babar? Guess maybe it's not that funny. It's just that during those hearings, I could not get Babar's image out of my head every time I heard the name. I mean, they never said "Mr. Barr" or just "Barr", always "Bob Barr".

PW2,

I don't know enough to say one way or another. In any case, it is completely irrelevant whether Clinton followed the law or not.
He didn't. So what's the beef?

And one final comment. I don't understand why each and every one of you that champion your 4th amendment rights are so eager to give away all of your other rights? It baffles me.
I'm willing to give up something I don't even have (dealing with suspected terrorists via telephone or e-mail) to save mine and your lives. I care about you believe it, or not.

This whole NONSENSE about GWB sitting in the White House basement listening to YOUR calls is just that-NONSENSE. That nonsense is made of whole political cloth. The ex Soviet union's (many's Savior) was full of spying, for no reason other than control. Believe me, we have enough lawyers to prevent that.

Geez, get a life. You are NOT that important unless you are a terrorist, or a potential one.

I know that I am not even on the radar screen.

Are you?

This is a different war. No lines, no demarkation of enemies. They are among us.

Re: How do you spell "Buffoon"?

It is relevant that we look back to the Clinton era if the VP of that admin is making the comments. If they did the same thing and are now outraged, that is simply hypocritical.

I'm not sure why we can inspect things that come into this country by boat and plane and land in customs as a protection mechanism yet let other things cross our borders undetected. I would guess that we have some things inplace to protect us from cyber attacks, as this is crossing our borders. Yet we draw the line with voice. In my view, we should protect ourselves on what is coming and going across our borders.

For those waiting to pounce, this includes our southern border as well.

Emphasis on "hypocritical".

We have to understand that this issue is politically driven. The "opposers" do not give a damn about national security. The politicians have their own secret service security. They are perfectly willing to let the populace suffer, for their own POWER. That's human nature. If you read history, it's nothing new.

When it comes to the powerful being protected, that was NOT the intent of the founding fathers. They KNEW that overwhelming power was dangerous. They wanted a "citizen" politician. A man/woman that would lead but not conquer, or overwhelm.

As man does, the politicians have garnered themselves a cozy position with benefits that would make a union worker cry out with envy.

Only we, are to blame for our apathy and voting these clowns in, again and again.

Ted Kennedy is a PRIME example. That man should be in a prison cell, not the halls of Congress.

Power, has it's privelege.

There is no test for "politician", until one gets into office. Then the tests come-especiqlly if REP.

The only qualifications I can see for a politician are:

1. Looks good. (except Ted Kennedy).

2. Never sweats. (NEVER trust a person that NEVER sweats.) That means they are emotionless.

3. Can say anything to anybody, depending on the crowd.

4. Anyone that can answer, but not answer a question, in 1000 words. (eg. Pres. Clinton)

So you don't dispute that Bush is breaking the law, but only that you don't care.

And because if I lived closer to a Muslim mosque, I'd worry more? That sound pretty racist. Irrational fear is a terrible thing.

Frankly, I live close enough to plenty of Militia groups of the Tim Mcveigh variety, and fertilizer stores and gun shows every weekend make me plenty uncomfortable.

However, we live in a free society, and I am not willing to abdicate my freedom for a little supposed security.

And I am not advocating not wiretapping suspected terrorists. I am advocating maintaining some sort of checks and balances that this country was founded on. There is a reason why the founders saw the need for limits to power, and while technology may have changed, human nature has not.

The lauded "checks and balances" refer to the powers between the three branches of government, not you and the Fed.

Last time I checked, the 9/11 perps were pretty easily identifiable. I do not believe they fit your description PW2. I may be wrong. They didn't buy fertilizer, nor did they frequent gun shows. That was an unnecessary slap, on your part, to mention those things. But, it makes political hay, among the like thinkers.

I have to give some trust to the government to know what they are looking for. Believe me, that's a leap for me. That is what taxes are for, it's called protecting the citizenry. All the taxes in the world won't protect a dead citizen.

They are NOT looking for me, they may be looking for you, if you're guilty.

As said, this is a different kind of war. Got a better idea? Let's hear it.

If you don't, don't bother.

Re: How do you spell "Buffoon"?

Anyone who supports the actions of the government is spying on its own citizens without proper warrants should never ever try to support anything with comments from our Constitution.

It is ridiculous to suspend the Right of Search and Seizure whether it was Clinton, Bush or any other President. Hey Bush is wrong on this one, it is ok you can still support him overall.

Why is it necessary for GW supporters to blindly support anything he does. I have never supported any person 100%. This is nonsense in my mind.

DJ, For someone who claims to be a conservative just to throw away the Bill of Rights is amazing. How do you know they are not spying on you, you don't.

This GW supporter doesn't agree with him 100% of the time. I have seen negative comments here from other "supporters" . . .

DJ, I have never read a post by you or any of your "like thinkers" that would cause me to believe that you have anything but total trust in the government, [i[because baby bush says he's looking out for your best interest[/i].

Blind faith like yours will do nothing but embolden the wickedness of the politician in power. Buying the whole redumblican party line, hook line and stnker is little more than blind faith. And since you rarely if ever question or express a disagreement with the redumblican party line, what I have expressed about your "blind faith" is evidently pretty accurate.

As for the post's question, I think it's spelled R - U - S - H

I am gonna nominate myself as a "like thinker". Are you flippin' nuts? We don't trust the Gov't any farther than we can throw them, but in the case of the Iraq war most of us "like thinkers" believe:

a) We are heroes for being there
2) This administration understands the threat that Islamic terror represents to this country and doesn't flip flop when they see a political advantage to changing its position
c) This administration doesn't buy into the "Buffoon's" belief that the biggest threat to us is Global Warming

Re: How do you spell "Buffoon"?

DJ, How can you possibly subscribe to the theory that we should just blindly trust that this administration "knows what it is doing"?

They have so far got nothing right in this war. No nukes, no wmd's, not enough troops, They'll greet us with flowers and candy as liberators, their oil revenue will pay for the war...And on and on...

Now we are to trust them??

BTW, The ACLU is suing the gov't over this spying, and even Cristopher Hitchings has signed on as a plaintiff. He's been as pro war and pro admin as there is.
