Re: How do you navigate?

LOL My Deed says "follow the old fence 20 chains 3 links to the big birch tree"

When I travel I punch the address in mapquest or other such sites and go. Right now in front of me I have one mapped out to Brevard NC and another to Stone mt GA another to Panama City FL and another from Panama City to home.

Re: How do you navigate?

Well the old Irish joke is "Oh it's Dublin you'll be going to? Well I wouldn't start from here".

or

"Well, you'll be wanting to go down the road a fair ways until you get to where the O'Shaughnessy's used to live, but they don't now on account of them moving across the road, idea's above their station in life if you ask me, but who am I to argue with the good Lord? Anyways, turn left, or is it right, at the old cinema. I think it's a bingo hall now although it could be one of them supermarkets. In fact I'm sure it's a car showroom, maybe's maybe not. Go down that road for three miles then stop at Miss Golightly's house, she knows everyone in the whole of Ireland, she'll tell you how to get there................"

I stopped once to ask an Irishman the best way from Belfast to Coleraine and he replied "If it was me sonny I'd go by car"

Back to the topic: I tried using GPS but Ms Dezy kept over-ruling it, so I'm still lost :D ;)

Lately Ive been going to Google Earth, fly over the area for a while and become familiar with it, then drive right to it. :)

I like the old direction technique:

East coast traverlers, get on I-70 west and continue until you come to the first stop sign and make a left.

West coast traverlers, get on I-70 east and continue until you come to the first stop sign and make a left.

This is so true. I do navigate using landmarks. Its probably a good thing since someone asked me which way north was once and I pointed straight up. :D

HAHAHAHA :D Hey, you should have seen how long it took me to learn the GPS on the boat.

You know when we first moved to Texas years ago, we only had one car. I had to pick up Mr. LF from work. I'd never been on a freeway before. He told me to take the Richmond Street exit, so I did, but there was a sign that said "detour to Richmond" so I took it. An hour and a half later I was in Richmond, Texas.

I called him from a pay phone to tell him I was lost and that I was in Richmond, he said "Virginia?". LOLOLOL

I have to laugh at myself about it since I get lost all the time. I just have absolutely no sense of direction.

I punch the address into my GPS and turn wherever she tells me (female voice). Since I learned long ago to do as I was told by females, everything works out great.

I just go.... Dead reckoning, a few landmarks that still stand, and I got a good map....

Re: How do you navigate?

I just turn on my Nav.Star. If it has an Address It will save directions and take me to their door.
Down side it cost 34$ a month plus, 19 cents a minute when I am using my mirror to make a phone call :D Needless to say I use my cell phone most of the time. Working with the Amish in areas where towers don't reach Nav Star sure comes in handy when trying to find that mail box..

Wifeagator: never worry about where I am or where I'm going. I receive a CONSTATENT stream of updates on where I'm going, where I've been how I got there, and where I'm going to end up if I continue "down this road".
