Years ago a friend begged me to use his boat as he didn’t want it just just sit unused.
I agreed and of course on the first trip the lower unit blew up.
I felt terrible but he insisted that it was okay and things happen. He had the lower replaced and again asked me to use the boat. I said no thanks but he kept after me and I gave in. This time the power head sized. OMG! Apparently when the lower was done the dealer never hooked up the no oil alarm. They owned up to their mistake and replaced the power head on their dime. Once again he begged me to use the boat after months of refusing I gave in. I rowed out to the boat put the key in the ignition and the switch went right through the dash. That was it I was done. Although it was just a loose retaining nut that was the problem I wasn’t going any further.
I put the switch back in and rowed back to shore.
Never again did I say yes.
This was 20 years ago and it still bothers me to this day.
Anyone else have a similar story?
