How do I select a trailer for my new boat?

I just purchased a 24' Rinker Captiva 232 cuddy. The boat is in pristine condition, but it doesn't have a trailer. I now need to find and purchase a trailer for the boat. It's in winter dry stack storage right now, 200 miles away from me.

How should I go about finding a trailer for this boat?
What measurements do I need from the boat to check against a potential trailer that I buy?
Should I call the manufacturer and find out what trailer they matched to the boat from the factory?
How do I get the trailer bunks or rollers setup for the hull? Will the storage marina do that for me?
Is there a website that does boat to trailer pairings or anything like that?

Measure overall length of boat from transom to tip of bow... Trailer needs to be @ 110-120% of that length.

How to set it up.... Depends... Some trailers require cutting and welding and others are adjustable with hand tools.

No you don't need anything factory...

Will your marina set it up?.... Ask them, we can't tell you but they can...

I have the same boat, and it came with a bunk trailer. The hull is fairly flat and mine has two bunks on each side. Easiest way is to call Rinker or a local Rinker dealer and ask them who makes trailers for them. The dealer may have a used one, but in any case my guess is you can call just about any of the trailer manufactures and they will know how to make one for you. At our dock there are about 6 232's here.

Boat is 23ft 6 inch

If you get new one from reputable dealer they size for you, ,or should, they strap boat, lift and adjust rollers and bunks. I wouldn't want to do it without the strap lifting.

Yeah smokeonthewater got it right, your storage area should have some ans. And equipment for you. The hardest part I think is I assume you want to save$$ I do too but you'll be lucky and spend a lot of time trying to find a used one In this order 1. Check and ask your storage area they may tell you where you could find a decent used. Check with dealers for used, you should be listening along the way what kind you need. Nice boat, keep it nice and save work esp. Since you're inexperienced--just get a new one.

Most trailer web sites have overall length guidelines for each model. So, you can narrow it down pretty well. I'd think you'd be buying a trailer spec'ed for 22'-24'

Even if you plan on buying used, knowing the model/size range can get you pretty close, then you can tweak the bow stop and bunks (if you get bunks) as needed.

I did that with my 24 foot Formula . . . I got a Loadrite trailer spec'ed for 24-26 feet . . . worked out fine, didn't have to touch a thing. :)
