WD-40 works very well for thicker glue that's left over. Spray it on, spread it out over the areas with your fingers and let it sit for 10 or 20 minutes. Then use a wooden spatula or similar wooden implement (I used the butt end of a wire brush handle) to scrape the goo-balls off. Once the bigger areas are removed, Goo-Gone cleans up the leftovers nicely.
