I agree bow mounting is out of the question, but you have to understand that stern mounting will offer less than stellar performance, especially in a high current or cross wind. BTDT

On the plus side, a remote control type would let you control it from the helm.

I have to say that a bow mount model is still an option here.
Depending on the model chosen and the method of how the motor is raised and lowered for that model has to be known.
The solution could be as simple as using a metal rod with a hook or bend on the end to reach over the windshield to deploy and retrieve. Might require a slight mod to the motor that is simplistic and walla, you have a solution.

I have never used one but have sure seen alot of the trolling plates that attach to the cav plate and drop down when needed to troll. Would one of those work? Though its not the best option it may well suit your needs until the dedicated fishing boat is bought. You already have holes in the cav plate for the fin...

On second thought you might be able to fab a level flat mount for the Minnkota Powerdrive V2 70# that incorporates the optional quick release mount if you do not want it up there every trip.
I would look at fabricating a bracket that is bolted under that center of the bow cleat. Use the existing holes and sandwich the bracket between the bow and the cleat.
The bracket would go forward and then down to the rubrail and secured via existing fastners.
I am thinking aluminum bar stock wide enough for the Minnkota Powerdrive V2 70# mount.

hmmm, not a bad idea at all. after all the bow cleat was designed to be used as one of the 3 points for lifting it off the trailer and into the water. I am leaning towards the V2 and getting the copilot remote thingy that you wear like a wrist watch.
stow and deploy is still an issue. I'll have to work on that.

BTW guys, those "torpedo tubes" are part of Johnson's very effective tri-hull design. notice how the outter hulls stop midship? when on plane it rides on the rear of those and the very back of stern.

notice the nav. lights on the sides? kind of like turn signals from the 60s.

there are trim tab mounted trolling motors..... just lower the tabs and steer like a skid steer loader with a joystick.... again tho prolly cost more than a fishing boat

Uhhhh... I just did some quick online pricing for the Minnkota Powerdrive V2 with 70# thrust, plus the remote thingy.

$700 for the motor and $150 for the remote. $850 plus tax for the setup, which is a lot more than I paid for my working boat motor and trailer AND my 30# Motorguide bowmount trolling motor!

Have you considered that you could just buy a little fishing boat, ready to go for the same amount of money that your trolling motor setup will cost? And your big boat won't ever be as an effective a fishing machine as a smaller aluminum boat.

Someone else mentioned it before.
Remove the fin on the cav plate and put on a Happy Troller.
