How do I get the prop off?

How do I get the prop off of a mid 80's 115 hp Mercury outboard? Tried a pulley puller and heat already.

Let it soak 24-48 hrs with a good penetrating oil. Then give it another try with your puller. Try tapping it while under pressure and see if it will come loose. Then you may try the heat again.

Try another post in the prop section of iboats. You may find some more help / tips there.
This is why it is so important that we keep the prop shaft greased

I have been letting it soak for 24-48 hrs before you replied and I just bought the boat and the prop has been on it for 20 yrs. Can you suggest anything else, because it still won't give? The prop is stainless steel. Thanks for the advice.

I had a prop that was hard to come off. The corrosion was so bad. I soaked it and heated it and worked on it for over a week. I ended up pulling the prop right off the hub, destroying the prop. Once I did get it off, i clean the shaft real good and greased it up before I put the new prop on.
You have to keep at it. You may not be able to save your prop. A good penetrating oil to use is PB Blaster. I bought a can at Autozone. I noticed Wal-mart has it also.
Just make sure once you do get it off, you clean up all the corrosion and grease the shaft before putting the new prop on.

Last one I had (stainless) took 6 hours to cut off plus the cost of the new prop.
