how do I disable oil warning buzzer?

I have a 1989 Johnson BJ4 oelcec 40 hp motor. For various reasons I want to run the motor with the autolube removed and just relying on oil/petrol mix fuel. Trouble is, I get the insufficent oil warning (beep every second). I have tried just disconnecting the two wires
(one of which is an earth) on the port side of the power head but still get the warning. How do I do it? I don't want to experiment in case I start blowing fuzes etc.
Thank you

Above should have explained all. But if you're still using the vro for a fuel pump only follow the wires coming out of the vro pump back to a connector and disconnect that. It should stop your beeps.
