Re: How did you come up with your boat name

After working on my 67 Mon-Ark Maritime Federal most of the day, We acomplished nothing ,,nothing fit ,nothing worked ,, and i wanted a cup of coffee .
Several teanagers from the neighboring house came to see how i was doing and when we could go fishing ,,they do this quite often, like once or twice a day .
Long story short == I slipped on the trailer walkway ,,fell flat on my arrs on the ground and while setting there , looked up at them and said "Aint this jussssss F***en Ducky" !!
Ducky is now the name they call it ,,I like it,,, so that be the Old Gals name !! Juss Ducky

Re: How did you come up with your boat name

there are boat name sites such as 10000boatnames.com and coolboatnames.com. Once I started naming boats, the first one was named "Ship Happens" because......it does. the next boat was named "Cheeseheads in Paradise" when I moved to Florida because I am a Buffet fan, and a cheesehead. named the Rogue "Rock'n Along" after I found the only !@#$@!#$!% rock in Sand Bay.

Being Irish I always call my daughter my Shamrock Princess.... It stuck for the boat name.

Re: How did you come up with your boat name

as a mis guided youth I was in a seriouis motorcycle accident and in the ER with 20+ stiches in my head and generally skinned up but was released after being knocked out:facepalm: - I could hear my family and friends talking from down the hall asking if I was brain damaged or what? So with my head wraped in bandages and really sore I put my arms straight out and walked out from around a corner acting like a Zombie. Thus my nickname to some is still Zombie.
My 1st boat was a 1957 LoneStar Eldorado with a 1964 Evinrude 90hp-100_2733.jpg-I could not keep it running and had a White Zombie decal from the band and put it on the boat and named it "White Zombie". Installed a 1994 115hp Evinrude and it was quick to 40mph.

Next boat was a 1984 WellCraft 26 Aft cabin the "Zombie II" 100_1554z.jpg peope would ask about the name and I would point to myself and say "Zombie 1 " and point to my wife and say "Zombie 2". It was repowerd with a 1996 7.4 Mercruiser and BravoIII.

The present boat is "Zombie SS" short for Zombie Super Sport. see sig photo...It has a mildly built 350 Chevy:eek: motor3.jpg:eek:

Re: How did you come up with your boat name

While on business in south Florida, my son and I were on the hunt for another boat. I took a boatload of cash with the attitude to bring home a bargain. After checking out a dozen or so prospects, my son insisted we check out this boat that was listed at a ridiculously low price (1/3 of book). I expected a scam or a wreck. Were we surprised. . . Long story short, we bought it and found a POS trailor to get her the 1400+ miles to home. Sure enough, the trailer started coming apart before we got out of Florida. We got lucky in catching the issue before the boat hit asphalt. Found a welding / fab shop just 2 miles from the Interstate and engineered some repair braces. So we felt we were "Dam Lucky" we found her and "Dam Lucky" we got her home.

We live in the busy downtown core of Toronto and will be keeping the boat on the beautiful and nature filled Toronto Island. We fought over calling it "The Office" because I am self employed and plan to work from there a lot or calling it "knot home". When we got to know the man who sold us the boat and he told us the very touching story around how it got it's name "New York Minute", we decided to keep the name for a while. Lovely man and a story you never forget.

"SATORI" which is a Zen Buddhist term that basically means "enlightenment/understanding". I've studied and practiced Japanese martial arts (Aikido, Goju-ryu karate) for years and found it applicable for when I'm on the boat, or just tinkering around in the front yard. I'd like to paint the kanji for it (below) on my hull, but my brush work is terrible :/

Re: How did you come up with your boat name

I had been trying to think of a name for the longest time when I heard a song on the radio that gave me my boats name, I catfish and the song Katmando came on, change a few letters and you have CATMENDO, get even more creative and you can work in your favorite college football team like i did in my avatar.

Funny thing is I had the vinyl for tha name cut 2 years before I got the ND sticker, pretty crazy that it worked out like it did.

Re: How did you come up with your boat name

We just talked about it until we came up with something catchy that fit our lifestyle. We liked the last boat name and couldn't agree on one for the new boat so we made it a second edition :) Needless to say we are pretty independent and don't deal well with people that try to judge us ( which is why I like it here) Were putting the new name on this weekend so I don't have pictures yet.

I had recently retired and was working on the boat and listening to an Aerosmith CD. I love the song "Permanent Vacation" and it came on, and I said "Hey, that's it!". And so it was.

Re: How did you come up with your boat name

When we had our 22' Cuddy we could never come up with a name that we both liked. But, living down in Biloxi and New Orleans for about 15 years I always wanted to name a boat "Le Bon Temps Roule" or Let the Good Times Role.

You might want to check your French on that one.
