How Bad is it really?

Howdy I have a 87 thundercraft 3.0 mercruiser I/O I noticed that my transom was getting pretty weak so I pulled the outdrive off so I can get this motor out and found the i'm assuming their called knuckle joints look like their a little rusted I did have a little water come through the gasket when I was taking it off is this extremely bad or is it fixable Or should I just look into a new one

depends on how rusty the "u-joints" are and if they are stiff or move freely, if you want to cheap out just grease the heck out of em and run it, or depending on the condition, replace them

is there water present in the bellows??

a little water out of the water passage hole is normal, but water in the shift slide cavity/bellows is not normal
