Hey all, I just dragged home an old trihull with a 1976 115 hp evinerude. The controls are completly trashed and missing the ignition switch. I would like to just hot wire the dang thing to see if the outboard is a runner. In what order should I splice the wires running from the main harness out of the outboard it accopplish this?

I have these color wires in the main harness:
- Red/purple strip
- White
-Purple
-Purple/white strip
- Brown
- Gray
-Black
-Black/yellow strip

Just unplug the red cannon plug (engine harness) under the hood, use a pair of jumper cables to jump the starter. If it does start you will have to choke it to shut it off, make sure you have hose hooked up to it.

Disconnect one of the yellow rectifier wires if you plan to start it without battery cables securely connected or you may blow the rectifier.

Could be several different things. You best bet is to go to the CDI website and use their troubleshooting guide to help you find your problem.
