Is this hose suppose to be down here open like this? New to inboard outboards. Here is a picture of where it connects to engine and where it lays under on floor. I’m trying to figure out where I’m getting some water in bildge!5A95B180-B81B-4DF7-93F2-D24BB07F1498.jpeg

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... That hose appears to be a drain for the flywheel cover,......

If there's water comin' out of it, the core plug in the back of the block is probably been pushed out by frozen ice,....

What engine do you have and year?
I have an 88 2.3 and don't have that but if you're getting water from the bilge you have a leak somewhere.

It’s a 1994 4.3 omc cobra. Very clean engine. Runs great. Just noticed 2nd time out it was getting some water in bottom of boat. Other than that runs great. Was checking on that hose before I pull out drive for bellows

From what I’ve read up it is suppose to be there like bondo says. It’s a drain tube. Next question is what gear does boat need to be in when removing outdrive???

Any gear.
But when installing. in F
That way you can turn the prop and the splines align and the drive
goes back in easily.

I have a 96 and 86 omc 4.3. Both have the same tube. Like Bondo said its to drain the water out of the flywheel cover. My 86 was missing the tube and had no detrimental effect. But if ther is anything draining from it then you have a problem somewhere.

My '95 has the same hose. Forget where it goes to, but I recall when I investigated it years ago I was satisfied with it.

Was this strictly on the 4.3 or certain years?
I dont know what years had it. But here are 2 bell housings. One is from 1986 and the other is from 1996. I took the flywheel cover off of the one on the right to show where the hose comes through, marked with blue tape. The hose is there to drain out any water or oil that might acumulate down there.
