Hose popped off - Alpha 1 Gen 2

I would pull the drive and inspect the bellows. Bellows don't just pop off

It will do no harm with it off, but will be noisier than it was with it on…
But…my main concern and thoughts when I see this happen, is around two things…
1 it shouldn’t happen really and often a sign of being installed wrongly. If it’s not done right and the visual inspection shows it’s still in tact and not burst and just came off from the tilting of the drive…it’s not been fitted properly.
2 would be either way you look at it…it’s either came off from not being properly fitted, or it’s as a result of wear or time gone by…my worry would be around the other bellows on the drive. I won’t need to tell you…that if the shift cable bellow has had the same ignorance or time gone by applied…it won’t just result in a noisy exhaust note…worst case it will be a whole lot worse or even the unthinkable, with the family onboard!! Best case is the drive shaft below giving up next and only a bearing or outdrive failing with water Ingress.
Anyway. Hate to be the voice of doom…but of all the things associated with an outdrive that scare me the most…it’s things like this. You’ve been lucky and had fore warning with the best of the three of the interfaces failing first. The one that does no real damage../but it’s certainly a sign of things much worse to come, of ignored. All the best.

Thanks for the advice, probably didn’t help on reflection that I was working at sub zero temps / ice on the floor so I guess bellow flexibility was at an all time low. Will check the others over carefully.

FWIW: The Mercruisers did away with the attached exhaust bellows on the Bravos. They have a "cone" seated on the transom plate and not connected to the drive. The drive fits inside when all the way down.

They are louder than the bellows when up on plane, but I find the exhaust note from the Big Block pleasing. Wife, on the other hand, doesn't like it. Oh well.....

I tried connecting the exhaust bellows once (or twice). It lasted all of 5 minutes and then popped off the bell housing side.

I went with the tube (Bravo) and never looked back Not sure it you can get them for the Alpha . . . or maybe the tube will fit both models ??? :unsure:

I did not really notice any extra noise, but with my boats being big/heavy, they liked to run with the trim 'in' vs. you might get some noise with a boat that runs better trimmed up a bit.

Yes, I use the same tube on my alpha one gen 1. I was so tired of wrestling with it only to find it popped off again and again.
The only issue I sometimes have is the turbulence right above my Humminbird transponder gives bad readings

It should not only be tied by the clamp, you should also use bellows glue (rubber cement) I hate doing the bellow stuff because of my big hands (xxxl gloves). You can soften the rubber using hot air.
