Horn for boats

I would like to istall a horn on my boat is there any that are better than others are is it best to just go to a local parts store and buy any kind of horn

Search IBoats for "Marine Horn". Take your pick, any one will work. If you plan to sell the boat soon, maybe buy a portable horn that works with a compressed air cylinder.

If you buy a car horn, it will need to be mounted under the gunnel, and an access port with vented cover provided for the sound to escape.

If you are buying a horn just to have one, then any horn will do.

However, if you want a horn that can actually be heard then you will need and electric trumpet style, or better yet, one that is an air compressor type.

If you get the trumpet type, mount the trumpets pointing down so that water will drain out, otherwise they will quit working.

If you don't want the trouble of the trumpets, get the canned air horns,
at least they can be heard by other boaters over the sounds of their engines.
