OK, so I officially messed up this time. In a hurry to get the family on the water I hooked up the battery connections backwards on my 1995 Bayliner Capri with a Mercury 115Hp (serial #0G018303). it was hooked up wrong for approximately 2 minutes before realized it, during which time several wires got hot on the back of the ignition switch in the dash. Now when I hook up the battery correctly I get an electrical burning smell off the engine. I see several threads referring to a fuse under the cowling, which I cant locate, and if it is between the battery and the starter it is not there. would it be anywhere else. Any help would be wonderful, just trying to get the boat fixed now so I don't have to worry about it in the spring time. Also does anyone know where I can get a digital or hard copy repair book for this motor.

Fuse is #26, inline, just after the wiring harness connection.

You will also need a new voltage regulator/rectifier. $$ #10

Manuals available here on iboats, ebay, or any Merc dealer.
