My recent 3hp Evinrude power head rebuild attempt that ended due to one cylinder having severe damage due to rust pitting (honing would not have helped the cylinder) brought up a question.
If the rings have to be replaced on a piston and honing of the cylinder is carefully done to break the carbon gaze and allow the new ring set to seat better, what grit number should be use to hone the cylinder??
The Flex hone ball system has many different git values.
I was wondering anyone had some good advice for future reference.
Thanks!
