Hondon found the problem on the 1987 35hp merc.. We decided that working on this paticular motor as ateam that we had had to many man hours in this motor and that we would never to be able to charge the cust. for all these hours we did one final thing and it paid off. You would not beleive the releif everyone felt.
As you would recall that we could not get the boat to idle. we had spent many hours on the exterior of this motor that we decided to tear the power head down and look on the inside. There we hafd discovered that the reeds were indeed bad. That was not able to betermined trough the carb cause vissually those reeds looked flat against the reed block. but ont the back side the reeds were shot. Now keeping this in mind that the reed block for this motor is 2 pieces that is held together with 2 srews and the reed block being srewed around the crankshaft. Took the reed block off to examine the reeds and change them and found alot bigger problem. The crank had been smacking up against the reed block and it had grinded the crank all up and had grined the reed block up. Trough all of trying to fix this motor we kept hearing a noise but have to say it sounded like vibration not like something was loose. And this is why our motor would not idle.

Thanks guys!
Nick
