What is a negative trim?

This complete video.

The highlight was the death defying circus leap from the rescue boat. The only positive thing is it seems no one was seriously injured.

I was wonder if any of you familiar with Honda outboards can explain why, in the video below, the outboard negative trims all on it's own; at the 2:08 min mark in the video?

Edit --> Apparently some of the newer motors have fully automatic trim systems. Maybe this motor was equipped with auto trim and the motor just happen to come down to an RPM where it was programmed to automatically trim down to that level? Also that looks like a Yamaha motor.

And an excerpt from here:
https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/ho...ll/helm-master

"Program trim angles to specific RPMs, setting five points throughout the full RPM range. This automates engine trim as you accelerate or decelerate."

Welcome aboard.

Are you one of the occupants?

No, I unfortunately can't drive or ride in anything faster than a pontoon anymore. I did have an Allison bass boat before my health issues.

pvanv, negative trim is what I call it when you trim an engine down past the straight up position. When ya tuck the engine in.

Thanks for the links. I wasn't aware outboards had auto trim, interesting. I thought the cowl said VTec on the side, that's why I thought it was a Honda.

Also, thank you for your service to our country Matt. My dad was in the Navy during the Korean War. I can't serve because I have a bad eye so thank you for your commitment to our country.

Though I'm very thankful to those who have served, and many in my family have served, I did not serve myself. The taglines under our user names are assigned automatically by the message board to basically show how long you've been around this message forum. It does not relate to real life, at least in my case. :)

Ahh, I see my mistake. Also I re-watched that video in full screen mode and what I thought read VTech was VMax, clear as day. So yep, it's a Yammy. Have a great day and everyone stay safe.
