This is the auxiliary motor for my sailboat, kept in salt water, hauled in the winter. I notice a lot of salt residue around the head gasket, and there also seems to be some corrosion on the small pump on the cylinder head. Unfortunately, this engine only gets flushed at the end of the season, because the boat is kept on a mooring and there is no ready access to water.
Is it normal for salt to accumulate in these locations, or is this the sign of a problem? Thanks.
