Hello, Does it hurt anything to run the outboard without a thermostat temporary only? I had overheating problems and have since changed the impeller and checked the themostat, it opened at 160 degrees.
It probably won't hurt for a short time. BUT, if you don't operate at the higher tempature you will start (making oil) getting gas running past the rings and into the oil. Four strokes are really bad for that.
