What was that ignition switch set up for this unit?Honda has a very specific choice of only a few.If we tried to wire in something else your warranty is likely out the window.

Re: HONDA 130 HP

When i bought it from this guy i trusted him,he said it ran perfectly, when i got it on the boat i noticed the key switch harness had a couple of wires melted the engine would not turn or anything,so i bought through honda a new key switch harness for this engine type and just plugged it into the main harness behind the dash of the boat,it turned and ran a couple of times, and then nothing it just turned and did not run, i thought it had run out of fuel, but it hadnt the ecu, varios sensors and relays had blown, the dealer has replaced this and is slowly going through the electrical system on the advice of honda, they need to find the problem until they can confirm if covered under warranty, honda have confirmed the warranty runs until jan 2007.

Re: HONDA 130 HP

Hi guys i have finally found the problem.my honda dealer has liased with honda themselves and it has been discovered that my engine was an ex racing engine which fell off the back of a boat dragged back to shore and then repaired by a mechanic who was not a honda dealer, this has voided any warranty.Honda knew all this but were unable to tell my dealer it was not covered,so i have to pay the bill, the only good news is that it now works due to a wiring short in the main harness.Cheers for all your help and im sure i will be back in the future with more problems, just remember always make sure you see an engine run before buying it. :)

That is increditble, I would be contacting Honda direct. They sold you the motor with a with a warranty and they should honor it.I think this is one of those things things that you need to keep yelling loud and clear to Honda. If you bought it as is then you are stuck.

Hi, yep i bought it from a private idividual with a warranty on it.When it did not work when i tried it i took it to a honda dealer they confirmed that it did have awarranty until jan 2007 ,they then commenced the work and found no end of electrical problems,Honda then stated that they know the engine and its previous history and decided that none of it was covered under warranty.i have contacted their customer services department and someone is calling me tommorow,i will let you know the outcome.

Hi, it has been a long wait to finally get it all sorted out , but in a nutshell i had all the electrics replaced at my own expense of £1500 , as the previous owner had wrecked the whole wiring system thus completely shorting the whole system. It now works properly and i now have a completely rewired engine by Honda and everything is covered under warranty as from now.My solicitor is currently dealing with the individual that sold me the engine and voided the warranty by his tinkering.Thankyou all for your advice it has been really helpfull.
