Did this subject work
up a sweat in a bunch of people or not? "

Being new here I've noticed that some threads just
take off with a life of their own!
In RL (real life) Never get a seasoned
boater, a pilot, and a engineer in the same room!
Been there done that! :) :)

ZmOz
Since this is your post! I'm waiting to see what
is up with you. Did get a chance to look at your
boat. That is one pretty boat!

Link

Re: Homemade hydrofoil?

if anyone cares, pls look at my last post...still wondering where the extra stability comes from.

also, why don't manufacturers offer them on the engine when new? i would think they could design it into the cavitation plate. add-ons always scare me...

Re: Homemade hydrofoil?

mattttt25, there are alot of products on the market out there and some serve the purpose better than others. In a "V", or "SEMI-V" installation, if you will notice the span of the "foil" from left to right, extends beyond the water-line of the boat. This portion of the "foil" is still in the water at top-speed...the tip area in the water adds an incredible amount of stability at speed, and also creates leverage that lifts the bow to lessen wetted surface-increase speed, or in some cases, allows greater trim angles without porposing. NOW, as far as chop goes...you should run slower in general and also get the nose down to a flatter position and let the "V's" split the waves. If you're running in good chop with the nose up, you're gonna get the crap beat out of ya because the majority of the useful "V" is out of the water.
Buying an engine is the first step....fine-tuning begins from there, so don't be afraid of "after-market" products, as you call add-ons.
Keep an eye on these forums and ask for thoughts of others before making that decission....There are several people on here that are TRUE professionals, not just editors....... :)
