Hey, I grew up in the Catholic Church, and I do understand aberrant behavior.<br /><br />And I would expect a very thorough FBI vetting of high ranking gov't officials. It has nothing to do with the right of privacy. You don't need to apply for the job, but if you do, we are going to thoroughly check you out. Perhaps they did that, and he slipped by. It is still an embarassment.<br /><br />As for the reference to Clinton, far be it for me to attempt to justify his personal behaviour, but aside from some wild unproven charges, his actions were always with consenting adults. While it may be unsavory or immoral to some, it was not illegal. There is a difference.

I'm middle of the road as far as politics goes but I have noticed that here on DC whenever a Dem does something wrong its because he/she is a Dem but when a Rep does something wrong everyone gets all defensive and tries to take the focus off that person and put the blame somewhere else. Why is that?

I suppose that the teacher that was arrested yesterday for having sex 28 times in 8 days with a minor student is really the fault of the teachers union or the school board. Yeah, right!!

Ya, them and the other dozen or more school boards that have teachers with similar problems in the last year.<br /><br />I believe you can lay blame at the doorstep of the Catholic Church for the perve Priests, only because of the cover-ups and failure to deal with the problems. But this is a whole new issue. From what I have read so far, Homeland Security aided in the investigation of this jerk.<br /><br />OMC... I don't know, do we know if this guy is even a Republican?? From my point of view, I want these guys, D or R, treated the same. There is an inequity in the public criticizm that mimicks partizan political viewpoints.

We (conservatives) all have said kick there arse out, or throw away the keys when a repub has been caught with his hands in the cookie jar (guilty, not simply charged). I don't recall ever saying or reading that someone was immoral, wrong or criminal simply because he/she was a Democrat. I have said that people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Robert Byrd are an embarrassment to the Democrats at the same time I have said that Pat Buchanan, Jesse Helms and David Duke were an embarrassment to the Republicans. Difference is they're all gone. Not sure I agree that there has been consistent inconsistencies . . .<br /><br />It was obvious to me that HM intended to draw a connection to this Administration etc. by his reference to Homeland Security. How is that not placing at least some blame on Republicans?

The inference is there, we know it. It was made quite evident in a couple of recent TXTROLLER threads where HM stands.<br /><br />Just like Harry Reid's comments yesterday before this, calling all Republicans corrupt. Could you imagine the bru-ha-ha if Bill Friest said that about Dems?? <br /><br />And for the record, I am a conservative. I vote mostly Republican as they usually follow the same convictions as I. However, as of late, more and more Repubs are acting more like little Dems. Mike DeWine and George Voinovich come to mind.

For all; most of these guys, below Dept Head, are career civil servants. They work for Adm's. as they come and go. To affiliate them with the party in power is wrong.
