Ok - so I've been on the hunt for a good little boat my family could use (just wife and 6 year old) but might have the capabilities to hold another person or two. My goal was to stick to about 2k. I've posted a few boats on here and got some replies but I recently found this little guy and wondered what you all thought.

It was a trade in at a local Marina and supposedly has about 50 total hours on the motor. It actually kind of shows. I've seen bigger boats that seat maybe another person or two but nothing this clean.

The boat is a 1972 Glastron V-156 with an 80hp Merc. Take a look at the pics - all original not restored. Think it's worth it?

Very nice and very small!

this is exactly what I was looking for when I got impatient and bought my Slickcraft. I'd jump on it if I were you!

Oh yeah, you have to jump on that. Or you could spend 2k on a boat just as old that needs everything re-done...

Good question. The dealer told me the person that owned it previously used it only a time or two a year on their own private lake. Apparently the previous owner was very anal about no one touching any of his things so he kept it in a locked garage. He said he was told there were about 50 hours on the engine. They went through and put in a new battery, water pump, gear grease, fuel line and cleaned the carbs. Said it runs like new but what dealer wouldn't say that.

Look at the ugly fenders on that trailer. I'd pass if I were you. Where did you say that was for sale?:D

Lol. I might hold off for right now but I'll keep you in mind. :)

I pick it up tomorrow. I'm REALLY glad I had the little patience I did! I'm a little nervous about the size but this is the first boat I've owned so starting small isn't a bad idea. All I really care about is getting my wife and 6 year old out on the water for a little tubing and maybe some skiing with me and a friend or two. Plus I'd think it would be easy to load/unload and my wife *MIGHT* actually be able to drive it!

Buy it only if you think you can live with a tri-hull.

I think I'll find a way. :) It will really be my 6 year old's first experience in a boat so I'd like it to be stable. Most importantly if we use it often enough I'll be looking for a 20+ footer and likely keeping that little guy for tooling around.

Great find CM. Deals like that are hard to come by, especially at this time of year when the prices jump up.

Good luck and play safe.

Love those old Glastrons. Even the tri-hulls were sexy. A bit rough riding, but fast. Just be careful not to lose the stern light collar. They are a very fine thread and difficult to find.

While the Glastrons were a light boat and a little thin in the topsides, they were very tough. I had a fellow cross the yellow line and broadside mine while I was towing. It was a glancing blow that took off his rear view mirror but only put a couple of spiderweb cracks in the gelcoat.
