Hi Gang,
I had to cut 6-10" off the ends of my stringers to replace my transom and am looking for info on how to repair them after I get the new transom in. The stringers are a no-wood hollow, molded fiberglass construction. Looks like they were made with 4 layers of 18oz fiberglass mat.
I cut off about a foot off the end of each of them, and some additional off the top to investigate for rot before I knew & confirmed the hollow construction with Glastron. Pic attached.

Thanks in advance for your input,
Dave

Re: Hollow Stringer Repair

Here's how I would do it. I'd use the pink or blue foam from Lowe's and cut out pieces to make a block that would fit inside the stringer and extend to the transom. You will need to cover it with packing tape so the resin will not EAT the foam. You can then Lam up the Stringers to match the cutout and put some extra lams on the edges to tie it all together. The foam is 100% Non Absorbent so you Don't have to worry about waterlogging. Anyway, that's my thinkin;)
