Hmmmm? How much is to much??

I'm looking into buying a 19' Stratos (92') with a 2002' 225 Merc. It's reading 246 hp at the prop. However, The boat says Max hp 175. It's holding the motor well. Am I asking for 11k in trouble?

it sounds like someone has done some modifications, to the motor. as the 225 is measured at the prop. i would want detail info on the mods. that can become a HUGE, problem, when trouble shooting a motor for service.

Depends on where you are.
In some states, overpowering is a "willful violation." Meaning you are automatically guilty.

It is 40% overpowered.

Where else would a four cylinder 100 horse engine push a heavy round bottom 21 foot cuddy with three people at 40 MPH?

Thanks! I found out I Can't get it covered. It was the fastest bass boat ride of my life! 88 mph (GPS) At 5800 RPM. To fast for me anyway. Going fast has never put a fish in the boat... Thanks again for the help!
