Thanks to both of you fellas!!! Throttle plates are definitely closed, I’m assuming equally, I’ve checked the timing and it’s dead on, that small diameter roller and air gap just stuck out to me. But yeah, I’m not fooling around with anything that doesn’t need it, I’ll let y’all know what I come up with when I get my DVA in, thanks tons again guys!!! I was an automotive/diesel tech for two decades before becoming an electrician/instrumentation man, but outboards are new to me, but I’m learning thanks to y’all

OK, so I just got my DVA in this afternoon, I ran the engine in a big tub to try to let it get as warm as possible, but of course it seemed to be idling/high idling well (can’t load it of course) and all of the measurements look good, the stator is putting out 285 V +-5V @ idle and it smoothly ramps up to about 325 +-5V at just under mid throttle, the timer base voltages are @ about .75 V, the only thing I saw is the resistance from white to other colors on port side was 42 Ohms cold and 43 Ohms hot all dead equal, but from white to other colors on starboard side they were at 115 Ohms cold- 119 Ohms hot (is this right?? I didn’t see any specs like this) and once again the internal resistance of the stator windings were low/low end at 384 cold and 410 Ohms hot, but the voltage output looked good, I’m assuming the voltage output is more important than the resistance, or should the low resistance be an omen? Thanks again in advance for any advice/ guidance!!!

Thanks bullet… but I watched spark randomly dropping on at least two cylinders on opposing banks with a timing light while I was at the lake while it was messing up. All resistances always looked good when I checked them, but then I would fire it back up and it would be OK for just a bit, unfortunately didn’t have my DVA then and I can’t put it under a load here at the house. I’m fairly certain something electronic is breaking down and thinking I’m going to have to have leads hooked up to it while it’s underway and test it while it’s under load, kinda tight under and right behind the flywheel though….
