i have a 2002 50 Hp 4 Stroke motor. Serial Ot505458 The motor has not been used for 2 years and the high pressure pump in the vapor separator is seized. Has anyone had this happen . Will there be other problems after the pump is replaced? Will the regulator in the top of the vapor separator be gummed up also. I put the pump in sea foam cleaner without any success. Any help appreciated

Re: high pressure fuel pump

The high pressure fuel pump in the VST is lubricated by the fuel that it pumps. So if a unit is stored with nothing to protect the fuel system from gum and varnish, then the gum can jam the fuel pump causing a failure.

And yes it may have also pluged the fuel pressure regulator and anything else the fuel was sitting in when it turned to gum(filters, lines, passages, and fuel injectors)

And if the problem is gum and varnish. Then if the fuel system is not cleaned out when fresh fuel is put in, the varnish and gum can start to break up and float through the system causing all kinds of havoc.

Hope this helps.
