Re: High Output alternator

Next question, do you actually have 10 speakers hooked up to the top 2 amps?

I have two 8" 8ohm jbl loudspeakers hooked up to m4500 at 8ohm.
Two 7" 8ohm neodymium loudspeakers to m6450 and two tweeters to the last two channels

I have en equalizer and can set up range on amplifiers but should i also get a midrange crossover and install it on midrange 8" and 7" loudspeakers box or just get better preamp crossover?

Re: High Output alternator

@ 8 ohms you are cutting the power to speakers almost in half......

I would think the hi pass and low pass filters and freq. settings would be all you need.........

Depending on your volume, I really doubt you are drawing much over 10A. I would live with your current alternator.

Yes it is hooked up with battery isolator and it doesn't really charge my batteries well. I need some more juice in there. Dancing girls dont like when music dies little by little ;)

They are, but just until the sub goes down first and they want to keep dancing.

Hmmmmmmmm, well this is more serious then it appeared man! If it were me and my dancing girls were not happy. I would.........well, that's beside the point but.........

For just standby power(engine off), perhaps add another battery if needed and in any case, optimize my/any charging methods, two thoughts or so here.

Loose the "one wire" idea's/setups.....go only w 3 wire(remote sense type) and use only the type of batt. charge management devices(ACR's, VSR's, ISO's etc) that drop say less than or equal to 0.1 volts for example when charging. Doing both will help you charge what batts you have as fast as possible with your given alt when engine/alt is up at rated speed for rated amps.

If run time current of say 100/150/200 amps, whatever (I'm not going to read this whole thread to figure it out, just an "IF") at idle'ish was required for quicker recharge and/or real time current needs......I'd consider a re-pully kit to spin the alt faster (not too fast though, there are always certainly trade-offs involved, say 3 to 1 ratio perhaps, not sure, I'd have to look at spec's) and/or simply just low RPM, high amp alt's.

Google this stuff, tons of info on how to do this.......Dancing girls and power issues have been around for eons

Re: High Output alternator

Are the 2 for sound wired in parallel or do you switch between them?

Re: High Output alternator

Then you only need 1 ACR wired between the starting and set of parallel batteries. If you stick with the isolator, you should remote sense on the stereo batteries.

Do the ACR before you go out and get the alternator. Maybe it's all you need.
